What excuse will we find today? What will be the reason we don't climb out of that pit of doom, gloom, and despair? So we got tossed a curveball in life and things haven't gone according to our plan! Will we allow that to toss us back into a pit we've already crawled out of?
Absolutely not! We will be victorious even in a beaten-down state of mind. We will get up, clean out the dirt from under our nails, shake ourselves, and remember this truth: we are as defeated as we decide to be. It's up to us to decide whether we lay and wallow in our disappointment or get up and praise God through it all.
At West Georgia Worship church, we understand that life's disappointments shouldn't shut us down. If we stay in that pit long enough, many other things will come our way to tip us out of our boat. Instead, we must learn to walk on what has tried to drown us in despair and stop making excuses.
It's time to rise up and take back what we've allowed the enemy to snatch away. Get that head up, stop making excuses, and start speaking positively. Watch how things begin to change around you. We might not be able to stop the birds from flying over our heads, but we sure can stop them from making a nest in our hair. You've already come this far, so why stop now?

Jeremiah 12:5 offers us profound wisdom: "If thou hast run with the footmen and they have wearied thee, then how can thou contend with the horses? And if in the land of peace, wherein thou trusted, they have wearied thee, then how wilt thou do with the swelling of the Jordan?"
Many of us get distracted by the footmen that have been sent to hold us at bay. We allow the slightest distraction to take our focus off the bigger things coming. The enemy's main goal is to keep each of us from fulfilling the task set out for us to do.
We must remind ourselves that the footmen have no real power to stop us unless we allow them to. These distractions are only sent because the enemy knows that if we aren't sidetracked, we will truly walk in victory.
Today, my friends, remember that what you are called to accomplish is way more important than perhaps you figured. Get past the footmen and save your strength for the horses ahead.
